It may not be totally appropriate to refer to Lucky 8 as a casino – it’s a small room featuring a few slot machines and two (at the time of this review) video poker games. The room is located inside the Deadwood Super 8 in a nod to the legal gambling all around the Deadwood area. The games are available 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
Tribal gaming laws that swept America in the 1980s and 1990s eventually led to the opening of several tribal properties across South Dakota. Hotels like the Deadwood Super 8 commonly have small areas set aside for video gambling, be it slots, video poker, or any other pay-to-play game of chance or skill.
The Deadwood Super 8 has an attached pizzeria serving pizzas, pastas, and salads between noon and 11 PM. The restaurant itself is just a short walk down the hall from the slot gaming area.
